Location Ideas

Councillor scene:
For the councillor room, we got inspiration from a few counselling rooms online. We decided the room has to be really bright to contrast with the situation going on inside, as a sort of juxtaposition. The whole atmosphere of the room is quite hard to grasp, and has to be comforting and reassuring.
The props and mise-en-scene is very important in this location, because it can give a very specific meaning and really indicate to the audience where they are and what they are doing from the offset; even without dialogue.
The mise-en-scene for example could be things such as a box of tissues, plants and glasses of water, which are definite signs that the room is being used for counselling, while still having a comforting feeling.

Stalking scene
For the stalking scene we were thinking of choosing a dark and enclosing alleyway. This is because the claustrophobia aspect of it creates even more tension and fear for the audience, because it highlights the element of no escape for the victim. The darkness will get a mysterious element to the scene, highlighting the genre of thriller, and keeping the viewer on the edge of their seat. We were also thinking of using the walls as a prop and sort of weapon, because if the victim is pushed against the wall, then it highlights the dominance power and fear that the stalker has over her, creating another tense element. The lighting in the scene, although primarily dark, we will use street lamps and wall lamps to create an eerie setting.

Auditions

On Thursday 4th December our media class attended a lunchtime casting session where A level drama students performed monologues and duo-logues
as an audition to be in our film openings. This allowed us to see if any of the actors suited our chosen narrative and genre based on their look, accent, and versatility to adapt to a different role.

Narrative ideas

For our film opening, we designed two different narratives and plots for two completely different films, in order to see which one we would like our coursework to be focussed on. Originally, we all had the common idea of creating a psychological horror because it was what we all had a passion for and therefore would be the easiest to come up with ideas. We all had a vision of a film revolving around a girl who was either insane herself or was insane and goes on a rampage. From this idea stemmed to different narrative ideas.
